Surprise Big Ten offer for Kozan

Alex Kozan was equal parts surprised and pleased when Michigan offered Thursday and the Castle Rock (Colo.) Valor Christian offensive tackle said he will consider a trip to Ann Arbor before making his decision.
"It was a huge surprise," Kozan said. "I didn't even send them my film. The o-line coach called me last week and said they were really interested and then they watched my last game film and he said it was really good.

"I walked in my head coach's office (Thursday) morning and he said he called up coach (Darrell) Funk and that's when they offered me."
Kozan, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound four-star prospect, has already taken an official visit to Iowa and is planning to take a trip to LSU when it plays Auburn but other than that he's looking to schedule other trips.
Those will probably take place after the season which gives Michigan a good amount of time to get more involved in his recruitment and possibly get him to schedule a visit to Ann Arbor.
"I'm still looking around," Kozan said. "I haven't found the right place and if I had I would be committed right now. I'm still looking and trying to take it day-by-day and trying to figure out which place is best for me but I'll definitely consider them.
"They have some great things to offer. They have a great business school, it's top five in the country, the staff is doing great things up there with coach (Brady) Hoke and they seem like good guys from talking to them on the phone. I'll definitely consider them."
Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Oklahoma State and Oregon are some other programs involved with Kozan, who would like to make his decision by Christmas.
Rivals.com rates him No. 28 at offensive tackle, No. 244 in the 2012 class and fifth in the Colorado state rankings.
