Surpise leader for Virginia ATH

Xavier Boyce, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound athlete from Virginia Beach (Va.) Landstown, may surprise some heavy hitters with his current preference for an underdog.
Boyce holds offers from Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Marshall, Clemson, Auburn and UConn but says his current favorite school can be found in DeKalb.

"I really like Northern Illinois," said Boyce. "I just like them a lot."
Boyce went on to say that even though the Huskies are his current pick, he's a big fan of Virginia Tech and Auburn as well, and won't make any decision without plenty of consideration.
"I'm going to camp at Virginia Tech in a couple weeks, and then going down to Florida on July 20-21," said Boyce. "I'm going to take my time figuring this all out."
The Huskies may soon have company among the schools that have offered Boyce. Florida State, Ohio State and Florida have all made repeated contact, according to Boyce, and he hopes to pull least one offer out of his participation at the Gators' upcoming Friday Night Lights elite camp.
He hopes to make a decision by the end of his senior football campaign. His interest in Northern Illinois makes sense because his recruiting coach, Chris Beatty, was the head coach at Landstown when superstar Percy Harvin was there.
"There's a connection of course," said Boyce. "I really like coach Beatty and I think I could make a big impact up there."
