Superstar LB Thinking About Visits

The University of Virginia has stepped up in-state recruiting this year and has peaked the interest of most of their local high school talent to show for it. One such local talent is Virginia Beach native Kai Parham from Princess Anne High School.
“I really liked the coaching staff at Virginia, especially Al Golden and Al Groh from the NFL,” the linebacker said. “The location of the school I pick doesn’t matter whether it’s close or far away, it’s wherever I feel comfortable.”

UVA and state rival Virginia Tech have both offered, as well as Florida. Parham places those schools as well as Florida State and Stanford on his list of top-five favorites right now. He attended Tech’s summer team camp.
Besides recording 140 tackles and 18 sacks as a junior, Parham also played running back, where he averaged over 12 yards-per-carry, racking up over 500 yards. He is being recruited as a linebacker, however, due to his 6-foot-3, 235-pound frame and his consistent 4.6-second times in the 40-yard dash.
He received interest from dozens of schools in May, but as the summer got hotter, the offers cooled a little. Parham is not worried, however, realizing he will have no problem attending the college of his choice.
“It was hectic in May, but as the summer went on, the calls and letters have slowed down a little,” Parham said. “I can pretty much go wherever I want to go because I know the schools I like so far also like me, so I am just taking this day-to-day.”
He is not planning on committing according to any certain time schedule except when he feels the time is right. He has taken unofficial visits but has not taken any official visits as of yet. He plans on taking at least one official visit to Florida in the fall, and probably attend some football games during the upcoming college season, but does not have a detailed itinerary.
“Whenever and wherever I feel comfortable,” Parham said, “That’s when and where I will commit.”
