Superb ATH Names Favorites

Jonathan Goff is a versatile player out of Massachusetts, but the most impressive thing about him is the emphasis he places on the value of a great education. This is reflected in the schools he’s listed as his favorites.
“My top two schools are Stanford and Wisconsin,” the 6-foot-3, 218-pound safety/linebacker said. “Stanford offers great academic opportunities, as well as the chance to play at a school that is always competitive in the Pac 10. They’re a long way from home, but if I were to go somewhere across the country, Stanford would be the place. Wisconsin also offers good academics, and they have a great football tradition.”

Goff played multiple positions for Danvers (Mass.) St. John’s Prep last year. He lined up at safety, outside linebacker, quarterback, and wide receiver. He led his team in total touchdowns on offense, but he may project at linebacker in college. Goff runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds, and moves well sideline to sideline.
“I have offers from Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, and Northeastern,” Goff said. “I camped at Boston College, and I’m hoping they’ll offer soon. They’re close to home, and I’ve always respected their athletics and academics.”
Goff feels that St. John’s can be one of the top teams in the state, with highly recruited teammates such as Notre Dame commitment Nick Borseti, Vanderbilt commitment Jonathan Loyte, and Jeffrey Brown.
“I would say academics are going to be the biggest factor in my decision. All the schools I’m considering now, especially my top two, are great academic schools, so it’s not really an issue or concern for those places. After I see how my season is going, and how these teams are doing, I’ll be more ready to make a decision.”
