Summers focusing on five

One of the nation's finest running backs has zeroed
in on five teams heading into the home stretch of his recruitment.

"Right now I'm mainly looking at South Carolina,
Florida, Tennessee, Miami and Florida State," said Lexington (S.C.) product
Demetris Summers, the top player in the Palmetto State, a
member of the
Rivals100 team and the No. 3
rated running back in the nation. "I don't have my officials set, but I'm
getting closer."
Clemson had previously been in Summers' top five,
but have since "slipped off a little bit," he said.
Meanwhile, the Tigers' archrival, South Carolina, is
thought to still hold the driver's seat in his recruitment.
"Yeah, I like them a whole lot," said Summers, whose
family lives 15 minutes away from the USC campus. "But I don't know if I'd
say they're No. 1 right now. All those other teams are making it a hard
decision. They have me thinking about them a lot."
Another team, Oklahoma, had been starting to show
interest in October, but Summers said he's yet to hear back from the
Sooners. "I just had that one call," he said. "I was kind of interested
then, but not so much now."
As a junior, Summers established himself as one of
the nation's top prospects by rushing for a whopping 2,329 yards and 39
touchdowns. He's rushed for more than 8,000 yards and averaged close to 10
yards per carry in his career at Lexington.
