Sumler having big senior season

One of the hottest running backs out West this season has been Demetrius Sumler. The San Diego (Calif.) University athlete is having a huge season and just set a school record for yards rushing in a game this past weekend.
Sumler, 5-10, 220 pounds is a big power back who we've always said is an ideal back for a one back offense. He's a physical runner who is faster than people think. Sumler is one of those backs who gets stronger as the game goes on and he can really wear down a defense.

In six games this year, Sumler has rushed for 1,246 yards and scored 14 touchdowns. The running back set a school record with 360 yards rushing this past weekend and that total also put him 5th in county history.
On the recruiting front, Sumler had a trip set to Boise State two weeks ago but had to re-schedule it for later this month.
"I had my wisdom teeth pulled that weekend," Sumler said. "So I'm going to visit Boise State (Oct. 28) and I also have Fresno State set up for (Dec. 16). Those are the only two schools I have visits lined up with but I definitely want to take all five of my trips before I make my decision.
"The other three schools that are looking good for visits right now are Nevada, Colorado State and UNLV and all five of those schools have offered. Right now, I'm looking for a school that likes to run the ball as well as a school that is committed to me and will give me a chance to show what I can do.
"I'm also interested in what kind of system the school runs. I think I'm an ideal back for a one back offense and that's why I like the schools on my list. Fresno State runs a lot of I-formation and likes to use big running backs. Boise State runs a spread offense and uses a lot of one back, same with UNLV so I think I would be a good fit in all of those offenses."
