Sturdivant enjoys trip to UNC

Oakboro (N.C.) West Stanley athlete Quantavius Sturdivant attended the North Carolina Junior Day during the weekend in Chapel Hill.
"It was a good trip," he said. "I got to watch the practice."

The 6-foot-2, 213-pounder has two early scholarship offers, from the Tar Heels and N.C. State, and is being recruited as a quarterback by UNC.
Sturdivant got to meet with new Tar Heels offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti during the unofficial visit.
"(Cignetti) sounded like a good guy," he said. "He's real down to Earth."
Sturdivant plans to camp at UNC, N.C. State and Virginia this summer.
"I thought Virginia was close to offering, but they haven't yet," he said.
Sturdivant will be taking a hard look at several factors when deciding on a school.
"I will be looking at the coaching staff and if they are a program on the rise," he said. "Like (North) Carolina is a program that is on the rise and N.C. State is, too.
"I also will be looking at how I fit in and how people treat me."
Sturdivant, who passed for 1,794 yards and rushed for 745 yards in 2005, says that he will take his time in making a decision.
Clemson, Penn State and South Carolina also are schools Sturdivant is interested in.
