Strickland nears decision

Dallas (Texas) Skyline Rivals250 wide receiver Carlos Strickland has been on a bit of a whirlwind the last few weeks as he re-opened his commitment, scheduled an official visit, and now looks to make a decision on his college future.
He decommitted from Texas Tech while in California for the Semper Fi Bowl, and he scheduled an official visit to UCLA soon after. The visit to Westwood went well for the standout wide receiver, and several other schools are trying to get one last shot at getting him on campus.

"Carlos did go to UCLA last weekend. He enjoyed it. He had a good time," Dallas Skyline Recruiting Coordinator Eric Mims said. "He didn't come back committed. He said they were in his top three. He's supposed to announce on Tuesday what he's going to do.
"This last week has been busy for Carlos. Tons of schools have been up to the school trying to pitch their school and make that the right fit for Carlos, and he's just taking it all in. I think he's going to do what makes him happy on Tuesday."
He has already taken official visits to California, Texas Tech, and UCLA, and there is a possibility he take another visit before his decision.
"I'm not sure if he's going to visit this weekend," Mims said. "He talked to Texas. He talked to Washington State. Central Florida came in this week and wanted to talk to him. Houston came in this week and wanted to talk with him. We've heard from Arizona State. But I'm not sure if he's going to go anywhere.
"Yesterday, like I said, coach B.J. was here from Texas and he told him he's seen the West coast and he's seen Texas Tech and he needs to come see the University of Texas. I'm not sure if he made that decision over night that he was going to or not."
Two schools appear to be frontrunners for his next visit. Texas is one school he could consider and the other comes from the Pac-12.
"He has talked to Washington State about going on a visit," Mims said. "I'm not sure if he's going to. I don't think he's really interested in any of those other schools who have and sold that pitch to him. I think the two he's considered would be Texas and Washington State. I'm not sure if he's going to actually do either of those and just make his decision from that pool of Texas Tech, UCLA, and Tech or if he's going to actually go out to Texas this weekend with (Anthony) Wheeler. I'm not sure right now."
He may not even take a weekend visit, but he does have a plan to make an announcement on Tuesday. The exact details of his announcement are unknwn at this time time, and the who also remains a mystery.
"Carlos is kind of a secretive kid. He said the 27th is the big day," Mims said. "He kept everybody guessing the first time when he committed to Texas Tech and kept everyone shocked. He enjoyed California when he was there to visit Cal. He enjoyed California when he was there for the Semper Fi Bowl. He said he enjoyed UCLA. He likes California. I don't know if that's going to be the tipping point, but he likes being on the west coast."
Strickland is currently ranked No. 132 in the Rivals250, and No. 12 among the nation's 2015 wide receivers. He finished his senior season with 41 receptions for 896 yards and 15 touchdowns.
