Stoops gives Bennett more to think about

Alief (Texas) Taylor defensive end Michael Bennett continues to entertain coaches at his home while he ponders which school will gain his signature next Wednesday.
“Coach (Mike) Stoops was here today,” the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Bennett said. “The visit went real good. After he left, I have just been thinking about things. What he had to say, really has me thinking about things, now.”

Bennett, who was committed to Arizona at one time and has since changed his pledge to Texas A&M, is nearing an uncertain status.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do now,” he said. “I still want to be listed as a Texas A&M commitment. I am glad the dead period starts on Sunday. That will be a nice relief where I don’t need to have coaches calling all the time and talking to me. It will give a few days before I sign to think things over and make my final decision.”
Bennett also hosted the Cal coaches earlier in the week.
“Cal was here Monday night,” the three-star rated Bennett said. “They talked to me about their program and were making sure I was still going to visit there. I’m supposed to go Friday, but right now, I don’t know if I will or not.”
If today were the opening of the signing period which school would Bennett be putting the ink to the paper for?
“I don’t know. If it were today, I really don’t know who I would be signing with. I have a lot of stuff to think about between now and Wednesday.”
