Stock is rising for lineman Mihota

Defensive tackle Anthony Mihota out of Fredricksburg (Va.) Massaponax has held a lone offer from Marshall for a little while. The 6-foot-6, 255-pounder continues to receive a lot of interest from other schools according to Massaponax head coach Eric Ludden.
"He was excited about the Marshall offer and is definitely interested in them," he said. "At this time, though his options are open as he is getting a lot of interest from other schools like Virginia, Akron, Virginia Tech, Northwestern, West Virginia and Maryland. This summer things should become a little clearer."
Last week Mihota headed up to State College for the Penn State Nike Camp and it looks like it improved his stock a bit.
"His father went up there with him and told me that he felt he did very well," he said. "I think he particularly felt good about his performance in the one-on-ones. I've already had a couple coaches stop by this week, but it's still pretty early. I think he could potentially hear a lot more from schools in the next few weeks."
The lineman prospect is getting recruited for both sides of the ball. What makes him stand out for each?
"Recruiters are split on offense and defense, but I would say a few more like him on defense," he stated. "Defensively he's relentless in pursuit of the ball and has quite a motor on him. He's also a very aggressive guy that gets after it and is a coachable young man. On offense, he has great energy and really good feet."
Mihota isn't just a talent on the field, but also in the classroom.
"He's is a great kid with a solid 3.3 grade point average," he said. "He takes upper level classes and never gets into trouble. I talk to his teachers a lot and they all speak very highly of him."
