Stock is catching fire for Washington

What a difference a day makes, crooned the late great recruiting artist, Dinah Washington in the early 1960's. Now another Washington can say what a difference a couple weeks makes. After barely recording a blip on the recruiting radar, defensive back, Chris Washington (6-1.5, 190, 4.58) from Layton (Utah) Northridge, is beginning to make some sweet sounding music of his own on the recruiting trail.
Just this past weekend Washington earned the defensive MVP Award at the prestigious B2G (Beyond 200 Elite) Camp. What makes his honor even more impressive is the fact the camp was loaded with commits from USC and UCLA.

"I went in at first and it was a big adjustment to the competition level," Washington said. "I was used to playing against other kids from Utah and at the B2G Camp I was competing against the highest level of talent."
"There were kids there who were committed to USC and UCLA, plus the nation's fourth ranked quarterback, Tate Forcier was there," Washington said. "Once I adjusted to the completion level, I was able to relax and do what I do."
"We have a lot of good talent in Utah, too," Washington said. "We are just underrated."
The scouting report on Washington is he has great anticipation that enables him to jump the route and make a play. He has extremely good vision and is always around the football. He also known a lethal hitter who is outstanding in run support.
In the weight room, Washington currently benches 265, squats 400, power cleans 250 and has recorded a 33-inch vertical.
While Washington was a secret for most of the nation, he wasn't at home as he has two offers from in state schools BYU and Utah. Much to the chagrin of the Cougars and Utes, the word is getting out about their hidden gem.
Utah State, Boise State and Oregon State are also jumping into the fray. The word is UCLA is also going to take a look now that they are back on the market for a safety.
What is Washington looking for in a college?
"I know the standard answer is academics and they are important to me too, but I'm looking for a quality football program," Washington said. "I would like to play in the Pac 10, on team with good coaches and of course get a good education."
"I would love to play for Oregon that would be my number one school right now," Washington said. "But Arizona State and UCLA are a close second."
Washington was an all-region selection as a junior after picking off two passes.
Washington's stock could get as hot as the fourth of July.
