Stirrups wants the Canes

TAMPA - A name that was extremely hot early on the recruiting process was Tampa (Fla.) Hillsborough defensive lineman Leslie Stirrups. Not as much as has been written about him lately, but he's a big time prospect and has the list of suitors to prove it.
"There is nothing really too knew on schools," Stirrups said. "I really want that Miami offer though. They are the one school that I really have my eye that have not offered. I really like their pass rush defense because that is what I like to do."

The 6-foot-2, 274-pound Stirrups attended the Miami NIKE camp where he posted a 5.16 second 40-yard dash time, had a 4.94 second shuttle, a 25-inch vertical jump and did 15 reps on the bench press.
"I'm very athletic and I think I can play several positions and I think that a lot of colleges like that," Stirrups said. "I can play defensive end, nose tackle, defensive tackle, tight end or on the offensive line. I feel like I play like Baratka Atkins. I am quick and fast and my motor never stops."
Stirrups is ranked as the No. 9 defensive tackle in the country and is ranked as the No. 15 player in Florida. He is also a member of the Rivals 250.
