Stevens electrified by PSU atmosphere
Indianapolis (Ind.) Decatur Central quarterback Tommy Stevens made a commitment to Indiana in June, but rising interest from Penn State convinced the nation's No. 15 ranked dual-threat quarterback to take an official visit to State College this weekend.

"They offered a few weeks ago," Stevens said. "I never gave them a look before since (Brandon) Wimbush was committed and my dad wanted me to use my officials instead of wasting them."
Wimbush switched his commitment from Penn State to Notre Dame earlier this month and Stevens decided to make the official visit this weekend - a visit he said lived up to expectations.
"Man, it was everything I expected and more… great place," Stevens remarked.
Penn State took No. 13 Ohio State to two overtimes in Beaver Stadium Saturday night before falling by a final of 31-24. Stevens called the experience "electrifying," and his favorite part of this weekend's visit.
"I've gotta say, it was the atmosphere of the game," Stevens said. "I've never seen anything like that before. Not to take away from any other part of the visit (but) that part was just crazy."
Outside of taking in Saturday night's game, the official visit also gave Stevens a chance to interact with the people involved in the Penn State program.
"Adam Breneman was my host," Stevens said. "(The players) were all very friendly and welcoming.
"Coach (James) Franklin and Coach (Ricky) Rahne were the ones I was with the most probably. I thought (the offense) fit some of the things I do well."
In the immediate aftermath of the official visit to Penn State, Stevens was still processing how it would affect his recruitment and commitment to Indiana.
"(I'm) not quite sure yet," Stevens said. "I still need to sit down and talk to close friends and family before anything."
The 6-foot-3, 196-pound Stevens led Decatur Central to a 7-2 record in the regular season by passing for 1,507 yards and 15 touchdowns and rushing for 779 yards and seven more scores. They will start post-season play this upcoming Friday night against Zionsville.
