Stevens dominates NIKE camp in Oregon

At the recent NIKE Camp in Oregon, there wasn't a better prospect on either side of the ball than Hemet (Calif.) two-way lineman Hamani Stevens. Stevens earned camp MVP honors at offensive line and showed he should be considered among the top 100 players in the nation.
Stevens, 6-3, 276 pounds was a man among boys at the NIKE Camp in Oregon. The last time we saw him was back in January at the NIKE combine in Long Beach where he weighed in a 290 pounds.

Stevens looked in great shape with the loss in weight and his quickness and overall athleticism really separated him from the other linemen. During the one on ones, Stevens took reps at both offensive and defensive line and was the best prospect in the camp on both sides of the ball.
"I'm being recruited on both sides but I prefer offensive line," Stevens said. "I'm just more comfortable there and I think I have the most long term potential there as well."
As for his camp performance, Stevens said he was very content with how he did.
"I got the MVP and that was my goal," Steven said. "I had fun out here and I thought I played really good. I did my best and just gave it my all out there. I liked the coaching and learned some new things from Coach Brock.
"I missed the two NIKE Camps in CA so I was really excited to get out here and compete. I also did the Oregon camp on Sunday so I was able to make the most out of the weekend and everything went great."
On the recruiting front, Stevens said he doesn't really have a time table on when he'll make his decision but said three schools stand out right now.
"UCLA is my top school followed by ASU and Oregon," Stevens said. "I've been to UCLA a couple of times already and really feel comfortable there with the campus and coaches. I've also been to USC and San Diego State and plan to attend USC's rising senior camp later this month.
"As for when I'll commit, I really don't know to be honest. I don't have a set time, it's just going to be whenever I feel ready and when I feel like I know in my heart where I should go. It could be at the end of the summer or it could be later in the year.
"I kind of do want to take some official visits before I commit anywhere. I don't think I would take all five but I would like to visit a few schools like Oregon again, Michigan State and maybe Washington."
