Stephens interested in Arizona schools

Corey Stephens heads into his junior season with a scholarship offer from Louisville, but also plenty of interest from the local schools.
The three-star offensive guard from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro opened some eyes during the spring evaluation period, landing that first offer from the Cardinals, and grabbing the attention of Arizona and Arizona State, among others.

"Getting that first offer was awesome," Stephens said. "It was a little unexpected, but it came at a great time. It means a lot when a school shows enough confidence to offer you first because it shows they believe in you.
"I've been talking to a few other schools, including ASU. Kayden (Lyles) and I went out there for a visit a couple weeks ago, and we both came away very impressed."
The 6-foot-2, 290-pound lineman, rated the No. 10 prospect in the Grand Canyon State for the 2017 class according to Rivals.com, also camped at Arizona. He met all the coaches, including lead recruiter Charlie Ragle, and walked away impressed with the Wildcats' facilities.
"I would love to visit both in-state schools during the season," Stephens said. "I'm definitely going to go to a couple ASU games since they're up the street. I would love to get out to Louisville as well and take as many visits as possible."
Arizona State is after a couple of Stephens' teammates and given the proximity, he might be a frequent visitor this fall.
"I like their sense of discipline in their program," Stephens said. "I like how coach (Todd) Graham has come in and instilled discipline. I can tell all the players have bought into that with the work they're putting in. It was a great experience to watch them work."
Stephens played left tackle as a sophomore last season, helping Saguaro average more than 500 yards of total offensive per game and a 14-0 record.
