MORE: 2017 OL lands first two offers
Hamilton (Ohio) Ross offensive lineman Simon Stepaniak picked up an offer from Vanderbilt when James Franklin was there, and now the three-star has added an offer from Franklin's staff at Penn State.

"Coach (Herb) Hand came in at the end of the school day," Stepaniak said. "He came in, watched me work out a little bit and offered me. I have talked to him multiple times before when he was at Vandy, and he was the one who came in and offered from Vandy."
Penn State was not on Stepaniak's radar before Franklin's arrival, but his previous relationship with that staff has him looking more closely at the Nittany Lions.
"I have never really thought about them, but ever since he went there I have gotten more interested in checking them out," Stepaniak said. "I think Coach Franklin has a pretty prestigious coaching staff with him. I like what he did at Vandy. Coach Hand is an awesome coach and I look forward to checking out the facilities."
Stepaniak expects to get a list of dates from Hand that may work for visiting Penn State. He has them on his short list of schools to check out this winter.
"I am trying to get (visits) set up for Indiana, Penn State and Illinois, most likely," Stepaniak said. "Me and my dad are trying to get a schedule together."
The Penn State offer is Stepaniak's ninth of the recruiting process. He is also expecting in-school visits this week from Minnesota and Illinois coaches.
