Inside linebacker Michael Stenclik is one of the top verbal commitments for Syracuse, but with the news that the 'Cuse won't be retaining head coach Paul Pasqualoni, where do things stand?
"I heard about it pretty soon after it happened, and to be honest I can't say I was completely surprised by the news. I know it had been talked about by a lot of people recently, and I guess they just decided it was something they had to do for the future.
"I'm just trying to decide where to go from here," said Stenclik. "I'll wait and see who the new Syracuse coach is going to be, and until then I'm going to consider myself a solid Syracuse verbal. Once I meet the new coach I'll either decide to stay with Syracuse or look elsewhere."
What other schools might the 6-foot-1, 225-pound prospect from Webster (N.Y.) Shroeder look at?
"Pitt and UConn have stayed in touch with me more than any other schools since I committed to Syracuse, and I'd say those two might be the schools I look at if I do look elsewhere. I might take an official visit to Pitt if I'm not crazy about the choice of the new coach, but that's an 'if'. I'm going to give Syracuse a chance to show me that I made the right decision."
