Stearns to leave L.A.

The recruiting journey for two-way standout Devin Stearns (6-2, 195, 4.41) from Gardena (Calif.) Serra is becoming clearer. He is currently on a flight from Columbus, Ohio to his Los Angeles home after visiting Ohio State this weekend (January 31st). Ohio State is now one of the three finalists for his services.
“I just got off the phone from Ohio State head coach (Jim) Tressell,” Devin’s Dad said. “Coach Tressell told me that they want Devin and that the Buckeyes offered him on his trip.”

“Coach said it seemed Devin had a great time,” Devin’s Dad said. “He didn’t commit to Ohio State because he wants to talk it over with his family.”
The two favorites going into this weekend were Washington and Cal, but it looks like there is a third school in the picture and that is Ohio State.
“It looks like Devin will be leaving Los Angeles for college,” Devin’s Dad said. “If he does stay in L.A. he will go to UCLA. But that is a very small chance. From what he tells me he wants to go away for school.”
Stearns was selected League MVP after his tremendous senior season. He was also Serra’s offensive POY.
Stearns caught 38 passes for 887 yards and rushed the ball 49 times for 506 yards while scoring 16 touchdowns on the year. On defense Stearns racked up 54 tackles and picked off five passes.
Stearns has the talent to play wide receiver, safety and cornerback on the next level but he wants to play wide receiver.
