Stearns to continue to trip

Standout wide receiver/defensive back Devin Stearns (6-2, 195, 4.41) from Gardena (Calif.) Serra was rumored to have committed to Washington after his visit to UW this past weekend. “No, that’s not true,” Stearns said. “That was my teammate Chris Hemphill.”
“Washington was nice,” Stearns said. “I liked the environment and it is a very pretty place. Another thing to like was the coaches and players had great relationships. They were tight.”

“Oregon was a lot like Washington,” Stearns said. “I liked it Oregon a lot too.”
“Cal was good but the feeling wasn’t has strong between the players as it was at Washington and Oregon,” Stearns said. “I still liked my visit to Cal and they are still very much in the running.”
Stearns has taken three of his official visits already and he has one more visit to ASU on January 17th. His last visit will come from Oregon State, Hawaii or Ohio State. Stearns will visit the lucky school that wins this derby on January 10th.
UCLA is still very much in the hunt and Sterns is definitely going to take an unofficial visit there once school gets back in session. “I’m looking forward to meeting Coach (Karl) Dorrell,” Stearns said. “I don’t really know much about him.”
Stearns is the type of player who saves his best for big games. In his CIF Championship game against Lompoc he gave it his all in a 16-13 loss.
Stearns scored his team’s only two touchdowns, forced two fumbles, one pick and one fumble recovery in the championship game.
Stearns was selected League MVP after his tremendous senior season. He was also Serra’s offensive POY.
Stearns caught 38 passes for 887 yards and rushed the ball 49 times for 506 yards while scoring 16 touchdowns on the year. On defense Stearns racked up 54 tackles and picked off five passes.
Stearns has the talent to play wide receiver, safety and cornerback on the next level but he wants to play wide receiver.
