Staying down South

RICHARDSON, Texas - There is no doubt that four-star defensive end Ugo Chinasa is riding quite a recruiting wave and having a big senior season. His Berkner team is 8-0 and the 6-foot-5, 220-pound Rivals250 member has offers from almost every school in and around the Lone Star state.
However, like any top prospect, Chinasa is ready to get down to business with visits. Though he had accumulated offers from a wide range of programs, he was adamant that when he cut his list down things would be kept in one specific region.

"I've got it down to LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma State, Baylor, and Texas A&M," Chinasa said. "So, I guess you could say it's those seven right now as my final choices. It's basically because those schools are all in the South. I'm not planning on going too far any other direction."
With those teams in mind, he is starting to think about trips. One could be Oklahoma State this weekend but that is completely up in the air.
"Well, I'm supposed to go, but we'll have to see," Chinasa said. "Some of my teammates are going, but I don't know if I'll be heading there or if it will even be an official visit. I do know I'm going to Alabama for an official visit when they play LSU on Nov. 11."
One thing that is for sure is that the quiet and very humble Chinasa did not think his senior year would be this highly publicized.
It caught him completely by surprise.
"It just all came on so fast," he said. "I didn't expect all of this kind of thing to happen. I'm also taking time to focus on my team though and make sure we finish this thing out strong with a state title."
Chinasa is rated as the No. 18 prospect in the state of Texas. He is also rated as the No. 3 defensive end in the nation.
