State POY gives soft commit

Nevada State Defensive Player of Year defensive lineman/offensive lineman Derek Kosub (6-4, 295, 5.1) from Reno (Nev.) Hug took his trip to San Diego State this weekend and came away very impressed.
"It was a good trip to San Diego State," Kosub said. "We hung out and went to a few parties. Eric Rouser was my host."

"I committed to San Diego State, but it is a soft commit," Kosub said. "I may still take visits."
"I may visit Boise State and Washington," Kosub said. "Washington called earlier today but I wasn't home but I called them back. We may set a visit."
"I liked the town of San Diego a lot," Kosub said. "I like the people and the weather."
"San Diego State seems like their putting together a good coaching staff with Chuck Long," Kosub said. "I can see myself being there."
Kosub had an outstanding senior season, accounting for 60 tackles, eight sacks, eight tackles for loss, four fumbles caused, fumble recoveries and one pick that he returned 47 yards as a senior.
Kosub brings a lot of versatility to the table. He projects on the D-I level as defensive tackle or run stopping defensive end if he ends up playing on the defensive side of the ball.
If Kosub ends up playing offense he could end up playing center or guard.
"I don't care where I play when I get to college," Kosub said. "I just want to help the team and get on the field as soon as possible."
