State leads for Jordan after visit

Mount Gilead (N.C.) West Montgomery running back Vince Jordan was one of over 50 recruits on campus at North Carolina State this weekend. The 5-foot-10, 200-pounder liked the visit enough that the Wolfpack lead for his services.
"It was a good visit," he said. "I got to meet a lot of the new coaches including the running back coach and a couple others. Mostly they talked to me about my grades and how if I were to come there, I'd probably be a free safety. That doesn't matter to me, I'll play either way.

"I also got a tour of the campus and the new weight room. They talked about how they train you with speed training."
Currently the Wolfpack are leading for Jordan.
"North Carolina State is my favorite," he stated. "I really like that my family has gone there and I'm interested to see what Tom O'Brien will do there. I'm also a big fan of how their defense plays. I was watching them when they were a top five defense in the nation."
State has shown interest, but so have plenty of other schools including Duke, Florida, Virginia Tech, Boise State and North Carolina. What is the Carolina tailback looking for out of a school?
"The reason I like State is because my family is in forestry and they are No. 1 in that," he said. "I want to major in forestry and engineering and that will be a big factor in my decision. I'd also like to stay kind of close to home, although going away won't bother me."
Over the next two weekends, Jordan will be taking visits to Auburn. He also plans to head to camps at North Carolina State and Wake Forest this summer.
Jordan ran for 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns and added 115 tackles, two interceptions and three fumble recoveries on defense on his way to all-conference honors.
