Hamilton High School has selected former Huskies state champion QB Travis Dixon to be their next head coach, taking over for the departing Mike Zdebski.

Travis Dixon was the starting QB for Hamilton's first two championship teams in the 2003 and 2004 seasons under Head Coach John Wrenn.

In 2003, Dixon quarterbacked a team that would defeat a Max Hall-led Mountain View team in triple overtime, 35-28, to end the Toros 27-game winning streak.

As a senior, Dixon led Hamilton to a 13-1 record and a repeat as champions, throwing three touchdown passes in the second quarter of a 31-7 victory over Mountain Ridge- a team that was coached by Steve Belles, who would later take over for Wrenn at Hamilton and lead the Huskies to their next five championships.

Hamilton's last state championship came in 2012, though they did reach the state championship game in 2013 and 2014 under Belles, and reached the Open Playoff under Mike Zdebski in five consecutive seasons from 2019-2023, coming within one missed kick of winning the 2020 Open Championship.

Travis Dixon played collegiately at UNLV, spending time as both a quarterback and defensive back, and has extensive experience as a college assistant over the last decade.

Travis Dixon returned to Arizona in 2022 to assist Eddy Zubey in leading Higley to a 5A Championship, and took over as head coach at Eastmark for the 2023 season. During Eastmark's first season at the 4A level, Dixon led the Firebirds to a 9-3 record and an appearance in the 4A state semifinals, and an average scoring differential of 37-16.
