Hurst, a 6-foot-3 and 180 pounder from Detroit (Mich.) Jesuit, had previously been considering not only Michigan State and Illinois, but Purdue, Colorado, Northwestern, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State, and a few others. All but the Wolverines and Buckeyes had offered.
