Star DE to narrow the field

Cincinnati (Ohio) LaSalle defensive end Ben Martin, the Rivals.com No. 2 prospect in the Buckeye state, plans to narrow down his list of potential colleges in the not too distant future.
While some feel Martin has already narrowed things down and will decide between the Notre Dame and Ohio State, Martin says there are other schools in the running.

"I'm going to narrow it down next month," Martin said. "I'm still looking at Florida, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, probably USC, and there's a few others."
Martin has scholarship offers from all of the schools he mentioned except Southern Cal.
"I've been talking to (coach) Brennan Carroll," Martin said. "They're supposed to offer next week."
After narrowing down his list, Martin plans to begin scheduling official visits.
"I don't have any scheduled yet," he said. "But I plan to take all five. I'll start during the season.
"Ohio State, Notre Dame and Florida will probably be three of them."
When asked about the rumors that he has already narrowed things down to the Irish and Buckeyes, Martin said, "Everybody assumes it's either Notre Dame or Ohio State. But that's not really true."
Martin commented on the two Midwest powers.
"Ohio State is a great school," he said. "You know you are going to win every year there. They are a contender for the national championship every year.
"I like the tradition and the people at Notre Dame. And there is nothing really to do there, so you can't get into trouble."
The 6-foot-5 and 220-pound Martin causes plenty of trouble for opposing offenses. He made 71 tackles including 10 sacks during his junior season. He had 16 stops behind the line of scrimmage.
