Stanton plans busy camp schedule

Johnny Stanton is hitting the road this week to work out at numerous camps and the Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic quarterback is hopeful his recruitment could pick up.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound three-star prospect said he plans to camp at UCLA, Utah, Nebraska, Washington State, Oregon and Oregon State this week and things could get much busier from here.

Stanton, one of the top quarterbacks at the NIKE Air Strike 7on7 tournament at Dana Hills this past weekend, already lists offers from Air Force, Cal, Navy, San Diego State, Utah State and Washington.
"I'm going to be going to a lot of camps next week," Stanton said.
"It's very important. They've seen me in practice but I think they want to see me go against top guys in one-on-ones. I think it's important on both sides to see if I like the school and I think it's important for them to see me, too."
Because a lot of things could change in his recruitment, Stanton said he wants to take his time and see what happens after all these camps. The three-star doesn't seem to be in a rush to make his decision but might be if more offers come in after this camp trip.
"I'm being patient with it," Stanton said.
"It could make it easier but it could make it harder as well because I could have a lot more schools that I would like and have interest in, too."
Rivals.com rates Stanton as the No. 14 dual-threat quarterback in the 2013 class and No. 44 in the California state rankings.
In his junior season, Stanton threw for 2,439 yards with 13 touchdowns and rushed for 1,428 yards and 21 scores.
