Stanford scores a great one

The Stanford Cardinal won the services of one of the western region’s best offensive guards in Mikal Brewer (6-3, 280, 4.98) from Peoria (Ariz.) Centennial.
Brewer had a very impressive list of schools that have offered him a scholarship. Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Nebraska, Vandy, Northwestern, Notre Dame and your Bruins are just a partial list of schools that Brewer a free ride.

Brewer committed to the Cardinal just before leaving the campus yesterday.
Brewer has a very impressive work ethic and has improved his bench press to 340 and his squat to 495. Usually a player doesn’t gain strength during the season because there isn’t a lot of time between school and football for jaunts to the weight room.
In an earlier interview Brewer had this to say about Stanford, “Stanford offers a fantastic education, best you can get. I think their football team will be outstanding in a couple of years.”
Stanford gets an outstanding guard prospect over Nebraska, Arizona, UCLA and Notre Dame, teams that were in the hunt at the end.
