Stanford lands two-sport athlete

The Stanford Cardinal picked up a solid commitment from cornerback/kick returner Wopamo Osaisai (6-0, 180, 4.49) from Pinole (Calif.) Pinole Valley. Stanford wins the services of Osaisai over UCLA and Washington.
“I’ve been to UCLA for track and met with the football people,” Osaisai said. “UCLA recruited me more for track and I want to do both in college. I also didn’t think I could be there for four years.”

“Weather was my biggest concern regarding Washington,” Osaisai said. “I’m from California and if I had my way there would be sun 24/7.”
“I felt very comfortable at Stanford with both the players and coaches,” Osaisai said. “The kids at Stanford are more like me. I felt I could relate better with the students. Basically I just felt more at home at Stanford.”
The Cardinal land an outstanding two-sport athlete in Osaisai.
In track Osaisai runs the 100-meter and the 200-meter. His best time in the 100 is 10.66 and his best the 200 21.45. “I expect to get even better in both events,” Osaisai said.
On the gridiron Osaisai collected 67 tackles and had one pick that he returned for 80 yards for a touchdown. The touchdown was called backed because of a clipping penalty.
Osaisai is also a very good kick returner and the opposition knew it. They refused to kick the ball his way and for good reason. He only had three opportunities and Osaisai returned two of them to the house for touchdowns. He had 198 return yards.
Fresno State and Arizona State had also shown interest in Osaisai.
