"We went down to Stanford Thursday," Collie's father Scott said of the family's trip. "While we were there, the coaches offered Austin a scholarship."
While the Cardinal are first in line with the scholarship offer, there has been no acceptance of the offer yet.
"He is extremely excited," the elder Collie said. "He is still thinking things through. He would like to have a decision made before the season starts."
Collie's father played and his older brother Zachary is currently on, the Brigham Young football team, but to date, the Cougar coaches have not been overly active.
"We would expect the BYU coaches to probably become more active soon," Collie said. "That seems to be the way things work here. As one school proceeds, others pick it up too."
The month of May could speed things up for the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder as the calling period opens for coaches.
"When they can start calling and making contact at the schools things will probably pick up some more."
USC could also get involved a little more too.
"Coach Chow was my coach at BYU," he said. "So he is aware of Austin. I would guess that they will pick up their interest some too as the May period opens up."
