Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic running back Jeremy Stewart has decided to play college football in the Pac-10. The 5-foot-10, 200-pounder made his decision during the weekend.
Stewart picked the Cardinal over Northwestern.
"I committed to Stanford yesterday," Stewart said. "It was a tough decision. I really liked the coaches from Northwestern. I just think Stanford was overall the better fit for me. I liked their offense a little bit better in terms of how I fit in and all.
Early playing time also was a factor.
"I feel that I have a better chance to make an earlier impact at Stanford," he added.
Stewart informed Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh of his decision on Saturday.
Stewart plans to head to Palo Alto early to get ready for the 2007 season.
"Most likely I will be going out there this summer," Stewart said.
Stewart is a two-star rated recruit, according to Rivals.com.
