Springer looking east and west

St. Paul (Minn.) Cretin-Derham quarterback Joe Springer will soon put the recruiting process to rest. But it won't neccessarily be because he has selected a college.
"I'm going to put recruiting out of the way after July and concentrate on my senior season," Springer said.

However in the meantime Springer will be busy.
"I was at the Purdue Elite Quarterback camp from Monday to Wednesday," he said. "It went well. The purpose was to learn some things for my senior season. I got some good drills to work on. It was a really good experience.
"I also went to Iowa and Stanford for camps."
Springer is interested in those three colleges, as well as a number of others.
"I might head out to some Ivy League schools in July," he said. "I'll go to Harvard for sure. And maybe Princeton, Dartmouth, and Brown. Holy Cross is another one I might visit."
The Minnesota Gophers have a commitment from quarterback Phil Haig. But
Springer is still interested in his home-state school.
"I'm not sure if they are going to take another quarterback," he said. "If they did, they said I would be one of the guys they would be interested in."
Staying close to home is appealing to Springer, but not a must.
"For me to go far away, it would have to be the right situation," he said. "But I wouldn't have a huge problem going out East or West, especially if it's a good academic school."
The 6-foot-2 and 165-pound Springer led his team to the state championship game during his junior season. He passed for 2061 yards and 20 touchdowns.
