Spivey commits to Academy

Houston Jack Yates High School safety Desmond Spivey has been patient through the recruiting process.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound senior was a three-year starter, a first-team all-district selection and had four interceptions last season, but went unsigned after signing day.

Spivey's college football dream came true this week as he verbally committed to the Air Force Academy after receiving an offer.
"Spivey is tough as nails and will fit in at Air Force," former Yates defensive coordinator Jeff Ceasar said. "He can support the run, and is tremendously physical. He is a leader and a kind of kid that is great for a program."
Yates' 2008 Division I signees included Damion Square (Alabama), LeRoy Chevalier (Texas A&M) and Spivey. Defensive end Kenneth Frankson ended up signing with Southern University.
