Spielman considering more visits

Eden Prairie, Minn., athlete JD Spielman has been involved with his second sport - lacrosse - this spring, but as it starts to wind down the three-star is considering more visits.
"I have been talking to coach from Baylor about possibly coming down for a visit," Spielman reported. "He said when he gets back he is going to have a meeting with the coaches and figure out the best time when I could possibly go down there to visit."

Spielman is considering making a camp visit to Baylor. He is also looking at potential camp visits to Michigan and Minnesota, two teams that have already extended offers. He will be in Columbus, Ohio later this month for a regional camp and may stop in to see the Buckeyes.
"Possibly when I am out there, if Ohio State wants, I would take a visit there when I am on the campus for the camp," Spielman said. "I have been getting a lot of mail from them and since my uncle went there I have been communicating through him."
Spielman's uncle is legendary Ohio State linebacker Chris Spielman, who has talked to the Buckeye's coaching staff about his nephew.
"He was talking to my dad and me about it and they said they haven't gotten around to a lot of recruiting for my position yet," Spielman said. "They see me as an inside receiver. Hopefully when they get around to it, they have high interest in me.
"I have high interest for them because they are a great program and just won a national championship. On top of that, I grew up in Florida and was actually a huge Gators fan back when Coach (Urban) Meyer was the coach for them. When he moved up to Ohio State… I know that they are always going to be a top 10 team as long as he's there."
The 5-foot-8, 173-pound Spielman was a standout on both sides of the ball during his junior season, and could play slot receiver or defensive back in college.
"Michigan wants me to come down to a camp out there this summer to see what I play better at - as a corner or as a receiver," Spielman said. "Then, other schools like Nebraska, when I was talking to Coach (Mike) Riley he was sold on me as an inside wide receiver and when I was talking to him he had a pretty good game plan for me laid out."
Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Nebraska are the four schools that have offered Spielman. With more teams interested, though, he is keeping an open mind to his college destination.
"I don't have any No. 1 yet or any top (schools)," Spielman said. "Since all the offers sort of came in in a month period, I am still in the process of building relationships with all the coaches. I feel as I get closer to my senior football season, I will for sure be able to start narrowing down colleges and which ones will be my top choices.
"I want to make my final decision during football season. If I am still not sure by then, probably a week or two after Thanksgiving."
Although he is also a standout in lacrosse with college interest for that sport, Spielman said he is "100 percent committed to football," in college.
