Spiderman snags first offer

Hoover, Ala., standout cornerback LaBrose Hedgemon has already established himself as one of the state of Alabama’s emerging prospects. His junior season of 19 pass breakups and eight interceptions did that. Now he’s setting himself up as one of the state’s best recruits – with his first scholarship offer.

Hedgemon, who is 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, has earned a scholarship offer from Southern Miss. He now lists Auburn and LSU as his top teams, ahead of North Carolina, Southern Miss, Georgia and Colorado. He did not list Alabama one of his former top teams as a school he’s considering anymore.
You can expect the Southern Miss offer to be just one of many scholarships that Hedgemon hopes to snag in his web. Hedgemon, who goes by the nickname Spiderman, is planning on securing many scholarships before he makes a decision.
He can feel it in his spidy senses.
“I took the nickname Spiderman after my junior year, and I plan to showcase that nickname for my senior season,” Hedgemon said. “I’m a physical cornerback that loves to be on an island by myself guarding the best receiver on the field. I like to snare interceptions with my web.”
As a junior, Hedgemon racked up 32 tackles, 19 pass breakups and eight interceptions – one of which he returned 40 yards for a touchdown.
Hedgemon said when it comes time to make a decision he’ll have his eyes on academics, athletics and the school’s social aspect.
“I want to be at a school that has a good business school,” he said. “I also want to be at a place that has a wide variety of students.”
