Sperry stays in state with pick

Ranked as the No. 9 player in the state of Colorado, Pueblo (Colo.) County two-star tight end Kory Sperry had plenty of options to pick from. But in the end the ultimate pick came down to Colorado and Colorado State. So which team came out on top in this in-state battle?
“I committed to Colorado State about two days ago,” Sperry, who is 6-foot-6 and 195 pounds, said. “I just had a really good feeling about Colorado State. Colorado wanted me more for defense and CSU said they wanted me to play receiver and if I bulk up I could end up playing tight end.

“It’s also in-state and they gave me more looks than anybody else did. I had offers from both CU and CSU, but CSU just seemed to fit right.”
Sperry said he won’t take any other official visits, and has canceled a January 16 official visit to Boulder. Wyoming was also heavily involved in his recruitment, but in the end the Rams won out.
“I’ve not set up my visit up there, and I don’t know if I’m going to have time because of basketball,” Sperry said. “But I’m excited about CSU. I think everybody around here had a good Christmas because of the decision.”
