The Beavers land a player who is tough as nails and very intelligent. To give you an idea on how tough Speer is he broke hand during the season and still he didn’t give up a sack all season.
For his senior season Speer had 120 pancakes on 249 running plays. In 650 total offensive plays Speer allowed zero tackles or sacks. Now that is one unbelievable stat.
On defense, Speer126 tackles as a defensive end to lead the team and Mission League.
Speer holds the school single season record for pancakes 120 and career record pancakes 220.
The Beavers also get a player who has proven durability. He has missed only ten offensive plays in four years of varsity and he has never missed a practice.
How is that for another unbelievable stat?
Speer was selected all-area and was rated by the Daily News as the Area’s number one lineman.
The Beavers get a player who Rivals.com feels is the nation’s number 11 offensive center prospect and was a member of the Rivals.com California Top 100 team as the Golden State’s 73 prospect at any position.
The word is Speer is the first of many commitments from this weekend at Corvallis.
Rivals.com has it from reliable sources that the Beavers could have received commitments from running back Patrick Fuller (6-1, 200, 4.45) from Covina (Calif.) Charter Oaks, offensive lineman Jon Ioane (6-4, 315, 4.93) from Tustin, Calif., linebacker Alan Darlin (6-2, 225, 4.7) from Elk Grove (Calif.) Laguna Creek and linebacker Wallace Bates (6-1, 212, 4.57) from Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft.
Though we haven’t been able to confirm the above commits as of yet, they come from several sources that have outstanding track records.
Rivals.com will be busy confirming the above committals and a lot more.
