Speer has top teams, offer

West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade offensive tackle Adam Speer has definitely been putting his body on the line to help his team win.
Despite playing through a broken right hand and the obvious pain, Speer has been playing both sides of the ball and has racked up 7½ sacks and 45 tackles. He’s also helped his team off to a 3-1 start.

“I’m playing through the pain,” he said. “It’s something that I’m going to do to help this team win some games. The pain is only temporary, but winning isn’t.”
And that’s the type of toughness that has made Speer, who is 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, one of the top 100 prospects in the state of California, according to Rivals.com. It’s also the same type of toughness that has the college coaches calling, too.
“I’ve been getting tons of calls,” Speer said. “I’m talking to UCLA, Oregon State, Stanford, Boston College, Boise State and Fresno State. I still have the one offer from Oregon State.”
So that makes the Beavers the leader, right?
“Well, I’m going to take visits to Oregon State and Boston College for sure,” he said. “I’m going to wait until my season is over to take those visits.”
Ah, so it’s a Beaver-Eagle battle, right?
“Well, I have it kind of down to a few teams,” Speer said. “I really like UCLA, Oregon State and USC, but they’re not calling me a whole lot.”
