THE LATEST: Geordon Porter is one of the top wide receivers and athletes in Southern California so it was a big deal this past weekend that he took a visit to Arizona State.

The Sun Devils are definitely in the running.

The three-star prospect from Etiwanda, Calif., said he loved seeing Arizona State’s new facilities and then he got to see the Sun Devils’ thrilling upset of Oregon.

He actually liked how the receivers were utilized Saturday night and that could be a big factor in his thinking.

Porter, a superb receiver who also has excellent speed on the outside, has already visited Notre Dame this fall. A trip to Utah is coming up next.

IN HIS WORDS: “ASU was a great experience. I like the way the new facilities were built over the summer. It was great to learn about the innovation and how it one of the top business schools in the world. At the game it was great to see how well the offense was moving the ball with a balanced attack of running and passing the ball. It seems that all the receivers get a chance to catch the ball. Talking to all the coaches was great and said that I would fit well on that team because of my character and how good of a football player I am.”

RIVALS’ REACTION: Notre Dame, Utah, Arizona State, Cal, Alabama, UCLA and Colorado remain the top seven for Porter and the three-star standout will probably take more visits before making his decision.

The Etiwanda standout has been highly complimentary of both his Notre Dame and Arizona State visits and before looking at a commitment he’s going to take a trip to Utah and possibly others.

There’s no question, though, that the Sun Devils should remain a serious contender since Porter really liked his time in Tempe not only on the field with ASU’s win over Oregon but off the field with the academic offerings there.

Arizona State took its shot. It was a homerun. Now Porter just has to go through the process a little longer to determine which program he likes best.
