Russell Allen is a sleeper prospect from the Sunshine State. Allen, 5-11 and 180 pounds, plays for St. Petersburg (Fla.) Gibbs High School. At that size he stars at linebacker for the Gladiators but he will have to play in the secondary in college.
"He makes plays everywhere," said Gibbs Head Coach Yusuf Shakir. "Russell has a great burst and has some great speed. This kid is a closer."
Russell is also one of the top hurdlers in the state. This past spring he qualified for the state meet in the 300.
"I am very good against the run," Russell said. "I think I am a guy that can make play everywhere and I believe I play sideline to sideline."
Auburn and Georgia Southern have shown the most interest in Allen thus far.
