Speedster Gaining Notice

One of the top players in the state of Connecticut might be new to a lot of fans, but he’s well known by certain schools.
“I have an offer from UConn so far,” said 6-foot-2, 190-pound running back Matt Lawrence from Bloomfield, Ct. “I really like UConn a lot, but I’m also being recruited by Boston College, Michigan State, South Carolina and Syracuse.”

Lawrence will have a busy few months coming up.
“I’m going to camp at UConn first, I think that’s around June 20,” he said. “Then I go to BC from June 23-25, to Syracuse from June 26-28 and then off to Michigan State from July 14-17. BC told me they’d offer me if I ran a 4.4 40 at camp.”
Lawrence also plays free safety and some schools are looking at him as a wide receiver as well. During his junior season, Lawrence gained 1,958 yards on 120 carries and scored 22 touchdowns.
“I thought about committing to UConn after they offered me, but I want to see who else offers,” he said. “I want to major in computer engineering and I know UConn has a great program for that.”
Lawrence is also a track star at Bloomfield. He participates in the triple and long jump and anchors the 4x100 team. He ran the 100 meters just once and was timed at 10.6 seconds.
“I might need some official visits if I can’t figure this out this summer.”
