MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Jackson (Miss.) Callaway Rivals250 defensive end Breeland Speaks made his way to Alabama on Monday to take part in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic, and upon his arrival he was ready to hit the ground running.
"It feels good to represent my state," Speaks said. "I know the guys on my team feel the same way and I feel like they're ready to go out and get a win."
He has not disappointed during practice sessions as he has been at the top or near it all three days. The talents which made him such a highly coveted prospect have been on full display.
Speaks gave his commitment to Ole Miss in October, and feels good about his decision to join teammates Rod Taylor, Ronald Walker, and Dayall Harris on the Rebels' 2014 commitment list.
"It felt like home," Speaks said. "Everybody on the coaching staff felt like family and it was just best place for me to go."
The standout defender does plan to take official visits mentioning Florida State, Arkansas, Mississippi State, and South Carolina as possibilities as well as his official visit to Ole Miss.
"I'm going to still take my officials," Speaks said. "I only have my Ole Miss one set up for now. I think it's January 24."
As for his commitment, he said there is no reason for Ole Miss to worry.
"I'm solid," Speaks said.
