Stephen Reaves had been holding
his decision private for almost a week, but decided to make it official today.
"I'm signing with Michigan State," he said. "I've known in my heart for about
a week or so that was the place for me, but I wanted to take all my visits and
give everyone a fair shot.
"I thought (Michigan State) would be the best place for me playing time-wise,
the system they run, and my relationship with coach (John L.) Smith. He's been
recruiting me for a long time, since he was with Louisville, and I felt the most
comfortable around him and his staff. He says I've got a great chance to come in
and compete for their starting job, so I'm excited about that."
Reaves (6-2, 180, 4.7) picked the Spartans over Auburn, Louisville, USC,
South Florida and Wake Forest.
A member of the Rivals.com
Florida Top 100 team and the son
of former Florida Gator quarterback John Reaves, he passed for more than 1,700
yards and 16 touchdowns with only five interceptions as a senior at Plant HS.
