Spartans offer Rivals250 2017 wideout

Cleveland Heights wide receiver Jaylen Harris is one of the hottest names in the state of Ohio's 2017 class and he added another Big Ten offer on Monday.
"Actually I was down at Michigan State and went on an unofficial with my coach," Harris said. "I have been talking to them every now and then and they just told me they wanted me to come down on campus, meet the coaches, get to know me a little bit and see what type of personality I have."

Monday's visit to East Lansing was also an opportunity for Harris to get a feel for Michigan State's program.
"This was my first time and it was great," he said. "The coaching staff was nice and I had a chance to meet Coach Tom Izzo, the basketball coach. Coach Mark Dantonio had called Coach Tom Izzo and asked him about Brian Bowen because that's my boy. So, we ended up going down and talking to him."
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Harris is a standout basketball player as well, but his college interest is for football and the opportunity meet Dantonio was one of the highlights of Monday's visit.
"It was just an honor to be able to sit in his office and talk to him about whatever I needed to talk to him about," Harris said. "Coach Dantonio told me to not worry about college right now and just focus on my high school. When it comes to picking a college, to make my best decision."
With Michigan State now in the mix, Harris estimates his offer total at a dozen. He is still 18 months away from signing a National Letter of Intent, and is methodically evaluating the schools showing him interest.
"It's going to come down to the best fit for me," Harris said. "I want to play as a true freshman and I want to graduate. Academics come first."
Harris ranked as the No. 207 player in the first Rivals250 for the 2017 class. He played just the final four games of his sophomore season season after transferring into Cleveland Heights and caught six touchdown passes.
