Spartans offer 2016 Tenn. standout

Tennessee isn't the most fertile recruiting ground for Michigan State historically but the Spartans have jumped in on one of the state's hottest prospects. Class of 2016 Nashville (Tenn.) Father Ryan defensive back JoeJuan Williams reported an offer from Michigan State on Tuesday night, adding to an impressive list that already includes Alabama and Auburn.
"I think it's very cool because I loved watching Darqueze Dennard play and it's his school that offered," The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Williams said. "I've been talking to Coach Barnett a lot. We have a great relationship."

Williams said he and Michigan State defensive backs coach Harlon Barnett made contact after the Spartans got a chance to review his sophomore film.
"They wanted to see my film and they liked it," Williams said. "I've been talk to coach for a while and he said he really likes me and he recently showed the whole coaching staff my film and that's when they decided to offer."
Williams said he's thrilled to add the Spartans to his list, but isn't sure if he'll be able to make it up for a game this fall.
"I don't know about that yet but I'll try to make a visit next summer," he said.
