Spartans coming on for Texas DE

The Woodlands, Texas defensive end Kevin Mims continues to rack up scholarship offers.
“I’m up to 10 offers,” the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Mims said. “And there are more schools expressing interest too that could offer soon.”

The list of offers includes Northwestern, Texas Tech, Baylor, SMU, Arizona, Utah, Kansas, Tulane, Louisiana-Lafayette and Duke.
“Michigan State has been really coming on strong,” he said. “They would probably be the team at the top of the list if they would offer a scholarship. We kind of get the feeling they might offer soon.”
Despite a lot of offers, the three-star rated defensive end has yet to line up an official visit.
“I don’t have any visits yet set,” he said. “We’re hoping we can keep playing into December. We are ranked No. 15 in USA Today this week. We’re still unbeaten at 6-0.”
Of the schools that have offered scholarships, Northwestern, Texas Tech and Utah rank at the top of Mims’ list.
“Those three just really stick out to me,” he said. “I don’t know what it is for sure. But, Michigan State is a very appealing place, too. They only have three defensive linemen who aren’t juniors or seniors. They are going to need guys to come in and be in the rotation before long, and I think it would be a good fit. They have some offers out there for other guys. So, I’m kind of waiting on that.”
