Rivals.com Southwest Region analyst Brian Perroni offers a couple things he'll be watching at games he scouts this weekend:

1. Can Davis still run?
In the first game of the season a year ago, Houston Klein Forest quarterback Matt Davis suffered a torn ACL that ended his year. The Rivals250 prospect and Texas A&M commit went through a long rehab process and has been cleared by the doctors for quite some time now.
Davis had a great summer at the Texas 7-on-7 State Championship as well as Gridiron Kings in Florida. The dual-threat quarterback showed he had improved drastically as a passer. The questions still remain as to whether he is still a dynamic threat running the ball though. If he shows that he still has the ability to turn busted plays into long gains against Katy (Texas) Cinco Ranch, the same team he tore the ACL against last year, then it will bode very well for Aggie fans that are looking forward to his arrival on campus.
2. Is Allen for real?
Allen (Texas) is ranked as the No. 6 team in the nation in the RivalsHigh Preseason Top 100, which is a great honor for a team that finished 10-2 a year ago. The perennial power in the state of Texas does have a lot of talent returning, though. Alabama quarterback commit Alec Morris and Missouri four-star running back commit Jonathan Williams pace the offense while Baylor linebacker commit Thaddeus LaGrone leads the defense. The team is good but can it prove against a very solid Cedar Hill (Texas) squad that it belongs among the nation's elite?
