Southward having a big camp
MOBILE, Ala. – Shawn Southward of Florence, Ala., has definitely made a big impression so far throughout the week of practice at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic. Now he hopes to make an impression on the recruiting front.
"I have offers from Arkansas State, Troy, Georgia Southern, South Alabama and North Alabama," he said. "I am still being recruited by Mississippi State, Mississippi, Auburn, Tennessee, and Alabama.

"I would be really interested in an opportunity to play about anywhere, even outside of the Southeast."
But first things first, Southward is excited about his opportunity to play in the big all-star game.
"It means a lot to me to come out and represent my state," he said. "I have a chance to become a better player because there are some really good coaches here.
So far Southward has been impressed with a few of his teammates.
"Tim Simon, he can play any position because he is a serious athlete," Southward said.
"He is also a great guy to be around. I also like the way he runs hard like I do on every practice snap. Then on defense, I'd probably say D.T. Shackleford. He is just so quick and strong."
