Southern schools looking at Butler

Larry Butler isn't playing this season at Sacramento (Calif.) Sacramento City C.C. but all the colleges that were recruiting him in high school are still interested and the 6-foot-1, 245-pound inside linebacker is starting to set up visits.
Butler, who's originally from Baton Rouge, La., said Memphis, Baylor, Houston, Alcorn State and Texas Southern have offered and that he's setting up a couple visits for later this fall.

He's hoping to be on a college campus in the next few months.
"I have a visit to Alcorn State in November," Butler said. "We haven't set the date yet but it will be a game in November.
"Also, Louisiana-Lafayette wants me to come down for a game but we haven't set the date with them either. I think they could be close to offering as well."
Even though Butler is taking a redshirt year at Sacramento City C.C., schools are still coming after him hard as he gets his academics in order.
Butler said that teams are highly interested because once he gets to a college campus - which he's hoping will be in January - he'll have three years to play since he took the redshirt. Teams have not shied away from him because he's not playing this season in junior college.
"A lot of the schools that were recruiting me in high school carried over to junior college," Butler said.
"Schools are actually more interested in me because I have the extra year. I should be on another campus in January and I'll have three full years to play."
