Southern Miss making 3-star Tennessee QB Trey Lowe a priority

The Latest: Class of 2018 three-star quarterback Trey Lowe is waiting for his first Power Five offer. But while plenty of programs are waiting until the spring to come evaluate Lowe, other schools are already pushing hard for his commitment. Among the most aggressive thus far has been Southern Miss, and Lowe is expected to visit Hattiesburg again soon. Rivals.com caught up with Lowe at the recent Rivals 3-Stripe Camp presented by adidas to get the latest on his relationship with the Eagles.

In His Words: “I’ve been talking to Southern Miss a lot. I know their slogan is Code Black 18 and they send me hand written letters almost every day. They really think I fit well in their offense and they said they think I can step in and compete right away. I haven’t been down there since the fall when I went to a game. I really liked it and I’ll be going back to their junior day on April 1. I have family in Mississippi so it’s not too far from them and it’s really not too far from my house. It’s. about 5 hours so it’s far but not too far and I like that. I really want to see the campus and get a feel for it. I know what I want to do so we’ll see what they have to offer.”

On which school might offer next: “I think Illinois is close. A lot of schools are coming by to watch me throw in the spring so we’ll see what happens.”

Rivals Reaction: Lowe is the grandson of legendary Alabama football player Woodrow Lowe so with blood lines like that it’s not a surprise to see him emerge as a prospect. Right now his offers have been limited to Group of Five programs, but with a good spring he could see his list grow. Southern Miss is smart to make him a priority early and with a good visit could vault to the top of his list.
