The SEC is known for epic battles on the field during the fall but as the season changes and the leaves start falling, recruiting battles among the conference’s best programs also heat up. The 2018 class is no exception with several teams going head-to-head for elite prospects in the Southeast. Today we take a look at the most hotly contested two-team battles in the SEC.

ALABAMA VS. GEORGIA

Anderson was at one time committed to Georgia, then he flipped to LSU, and now he is uncommitted. He went to see Alabama play Florida State in Atlanta, he visited Tuscaloosa over the summer, and the Crimson Tide are very much in this race. Some feel Anderson goes back to Kirby Smart in the end, but Anderson is not tipping his hand. Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and Tennessee are still fighting to stay in this race, but it likely comes down to Nick Saban vs. Kirby Smart for one of the top edge rushers in 2018.

AUBURN VS. SOUTH CAROLINA

All signs have pointed for some time that Wonnum was going to follow his brother (D.J. Wonnum) to Columbia but, as Lee Corso has said for years, not so fast my friend. Auburn has been lurking from the beginning and the Tigers are really challenging South Carolina for the four-star offensive lineman. Wonnum says all the right things and he is not tipping his hand, but Auburn seems to have a little momentum behind the scenes. This one should be fun to track.

MISSISSIPPI STATE VS. TENNESSEE

Carvin was set to commit last month and it seemed like Mississippi State was poised to land his commitment despite Tennessee leading for most of the process. However, Carvin delayed that decision indefinitely and now is revisiting other options, which also includes Alabama. Carvin has an offer from the Tide, but the school is also recruiting several other offensive linemen as well. Both the Bulldogs and the Vols have made Carvin a priority and will each likely host him for an official visit before he announces a decision. These are two programs that don’t go head-to-head for recruits very often, so the battle will be a fun one to watch.

FLORIDA VS. LSU

Chase surprised many when he committed to Florida during the summer, especially since most believed his battle was down to LSU vs. TCU. However, the Gators' push did a great job of selling him on a chance to be a star in Gainesville and was enough to convince him to pull the trigger. But as expected, LSU hasn’t given up on Chase and he was on campus again this weekend in Baton Rouge. Can the Tigers steal him away? That remains to be scene but this battle will likely continue all the way up until Signing Day.

ALABAMA VS. AUBURN

This race for Peterson, a Rivals100 linebacker, could be labeled as a three-team race. Alabama and Auburn are likely the top two, but Georgia is right there as well. A summer commitment was something Peterson thought about, but held off, and he is now likely to take official visits to all three schools. Peterson's head coach has strong connections to Alabama and Auburn from coaching Alabama high school football together, so there is more to this race than just each staff building a bond with Peterson. This is a decision that could happen at any time. Peterson is quiet and he keeps his recruitment as private as possible.
